FOOD HABITS
Everyone is making a fuss about good or bad gut health and 2 generations back we did not even realize that something like this existed as we followed more of simple food habits.
A healthy gut produces 90% of serotonin which is a happy hormone and no wonder all the festive seasons in various cultures and traditions are particularly related to at least one special food. Since ancient times humans have understood the importance of a happy gut. I am not a gut specialist, though sharing quick simple tips for gut health which are very common and can be a practised lifestyle for better gut. If you have any special conditions of health please make sure to take an expert’s opinion.
1)The water routine is as important as the food routine. Have we thought about not drinking much water after 7pm in the evening as it allows the kidneys to rest for 12 hours at least.
2) Drinking water in earthen pots can provide balanced minerals and purified water for all.
3) No plastic use for water or food is highly recommended.
4) One way to eat healthier is avoiding refrigeration when temperatures outside are cool enough to keep food unspoiled for a longer time and not using a refrigerator like a food storage to dump everything and anything that is cooked.
5) Avoiding microwave use can be the best to be inculcated into our lifestyles.
6) Eating less pressured food and try to cook in open or covered vessels instead of a pressure cooker.
7) Not cooking in indalium is the best way towards healthy eating.
8) Filtered and cold pressed oils instead of refined oils in cooking and brown sugar use instead while sugar can promote a lot of good GUT HEALTH.
9) Avoid ready-made food and cheaply available food or food ingredients as much as possible.
10) Reduce sweet intake as much as possible, especially for children. Fruit juices contain a lot of sugar at one time, fruits are more preferred that also promote fiber intake.
11) Maintaining good bacteria in the gut is quite important and the easiest way is to curd rice in an earthen pot that is kept there overnight or fermented food like dosa and idli.
12) Researchers have proven that for ADHD diagnosis, keeping a timely food and water routine helps them handle emotional chaos. And this can be true for any child who still not very aware of his hunger and water needs.
